MY STORY

“She was living in Helena-West Helena, a city on the west bank of the Mississippi River steeped in the history of cotton and the culture of the Blues. Nolan fell in love – with the girl, and the region.” - Sheldon Alberts, Walton Family Foundation

It’s true that what brought me here was a beautiful woman, but what keeps my wife and I raising our children here is our deep fascination with this place and the depth of relationships we get to share.

Prior to landing in the Delta, I lived at a halfway house in Little Rock to help ex-con’s get clean, and before that, at a residential program to help youth transitional out of foster care. This journey has taught me the importance for telling authentic human stories that share truths, dispel stereotypes, and break down barriers that divide communities.

Now, I’m doubling-down on the Delta in an initiative to “grow a film industry on America’s richest soil.” Read on to learn more about my process, my practice, and Film Delta.
